The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt

The Wednesday Wars

By Gary D. Schmidt

Published by: Sandpiper, 2009

Summary:
Holling Hoodhood is the only Presbyrterian in his seventh grade full of Jewish and Catholic students. On Wednesday afternoons when his classmates are at their various religious obligations, Mrs. Baker makes him read Shakespeare! Set in the 60s, this book is a good coming-of-age story and is pretty hilarious!

My Review:
While I have a hard time with teenage boy narrators, I though Holling was hilarious. What teenage boy wants to read Shakespeare - for fun? But his growing relationship with Mrs. Baker and how they come to appreicate each other really made this story for me.
