Impossible by Nancy Werlin
Published by Speak; Reprint edition (August 11, 2009)
Summary:
17-year0old Lucy Scarbourough has been raised by foster parents because her mother is unstable, mysterious, and mad. When Lucy is date raped at a school dance adn becomes pregnant, she learns of the curse upon the Scarbourough women which turns them mad after the birth of their daughters unless they can complete the three impossible tasks described in the song "Scarbourough Fair."
My Review:
Besides having this song constantly in my head, I loved this book! The subject of rape is definitely there, but not graphic, and not gratuitous. In a very modern setting there is a magical element that caught me off guard and I had to do a mental shift and realize that this fantasy story was woven into modern day in such a clever way that it was almost believable.
WARNING: date rape, insanity, teen pregnancy
Sorry, but you'll have it stuck in your head too!
