The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor

The Looking Glass Wars
By Frank Beddor

Published by Speak (2007)

Summary:
Princess Alyss Heart of Wonderland's family has been attacked by her evil Aunt Redd and Alyss escapes through the Pool of Tears to a strange new land called Earth where she must start a new life in a place called London and live with a new family. While there, she encounters a writer who wants to record her story - but he gets it all wrong! Falling down hole to chase a white rabbit? Just as "Alice" is adjusting to life on Earth, strange happenings in Wonderland require that the princes go and claim her throne...but not without a fight.

My Review:
I was skeptical about this book because fantasy is not my genre but I was pleasantly surprised! If the reader takes time to get into the first few chapters and understand the highly technologically advanced world of Wonderland contrasted with the late-1800s London, the reader will be taken on a journey far different than the fairy tale, Disney story they are used to!

WARNING: There is a war in Wonderland and some of the violence is described graphically
