La Línea
By Ann Jaramillo

Published By: Square Fish

Summary:
Miguel lives in a small town in Mexico and has always known his father would send for him to come to America. Finally his chance has come and even though the journey is dangerous, he is ready! His plans are ruined, however, when his sister, Elena, tags along and now he is responsible for her as well. They face numerous challenges in their efforts to make it up north and have to rely on their faith in other people and their own strength.

My Review:
This book was an amazing way to see from a different point of view. My views of illegal immigrants were already swayed to one side, but this book helps a reader see the difficulties and heartache they go through to be reunited with their families as they struggle to put food on their own tables in the meantime. Whether it is right or wrong for someone to illegally move to America, it is important for everyone to see many perspectives and understand humanity a little bit better.

WARNING: There are many Spanish words and phrases so keep a dictionary/translator close by! Also there are situations in which the characters are in dangerous, life-threatening circumstances or threatened by others.
