The Witch's Boy by Michael Gruber

The Witch's Boy
By Michael Gruber

Published By Harper Collins, 2005

Summary:
Lump is a boy who was left on the doorstep of a witch who was forced to raise him. He grows up isolated with a bear for a nurse. When his mother gives up her magic to save him, he starts becoming rebellious and distant. Gruber retells stories such as Little Red Riding Hood and Sleeping Beauty and the ending was quote a surprise!

My Review:
Fantasy is not my genre, so it was hard to get into it. However, as soon as I realized this was not just fantasy, but a fairy tale, I loved it! Reading classic fairy tales with a twist and different perspective was interesting, and the final fairy tale that is represented was the best way to (almost) end the book! I felt as if this was a story that was lost somewhere in time while all the other fairy tales were being told and now it is finally surfacing!

WARNING: magic, mother/son disputes, mild violence
